The staff and Dr. Choudhary were friendly, professional, and engaging. The doctor explained everything that was going to happen. He was very gentle in his approach. He was meticulous in maintaining a sterile environment. He was extremely careful in his drilling techniques. I could sense his level of expertise by his technique. He showed me the x-ray and explained it in understandable terms. He was attentive to my needs with respect to keeping my open. His assistant was excellent. I had my first implant done by Dr. Choudhary, and it went without incident and to my complete satisfaction. At one time after the implant was in place my gum around the implant was infected; Dr. Choudhary found that a seed had worked its way under the gum and removed it, this after my regular dentist was unable to diagnose. I paid at the beginning of the process, and the subsequent exams including the special trip for the infection were covered by the early payment. I found the staff at Fairfax Periodontal both professional and friendly, which made the patient experience as pleasant as a trip to the dentist is likely to be. I'm so glad I found Dr. Howanitz! After seeing another doctor and being told I needed gum grafts done on my full mouth (!) I went to Dr. Howanitz for a second opinion. She was attentive to my entire medical history, which was super important because so of my other non-dental issues had serious implications for receiving donor tissue. She worked with me to come up with a manageable plan (a frenectomy to avoid needing grafts on some teeth, and a reasonable number of grafts on the teeth that really needed it). She made sure I was comfortable during the procedure, explained everything she was doing, and has been great with the follow-up care as well. It's also a huge bonus that this practice is actually in-network for my insurance when many periodontists in this area seem to be fee-for-service. Kristal Gault 10/25/2021
Dr. Choudhary did my first ever dental implant several years ago when he was at another practice. This year, when I had to have a root-canal tooth extracted, I chose to search out Dr. Choudhary again to do my second implant. He took me right away and was able to review all the pertinent information and images, extracted the tooth, and subsequently did a bone graft and the final phases will be completed in the coming months. So far, it is going exceptionally well. It seems to be a flawless job so far and I have not experienced even the slightest issue. I highly recommend him, and I would return to him without hesitation. I made an appointment with Dr. Choudhary on the recommendation of my dentist who is a patient of Dr. Choudhary's. I trust my dentist so I set up the visit which turned out to require multiple stages of care. When I arrived, I was pleased at how clean the office was. I was seen quickly, and Dr. Choudhary clearly explained all of the steps that would be necessary for my procedures.I was not excited about what had to be done, but understanding it was necessary, I went ahead with everything. Dr.Choudhary was great the whole time, explaining what was happening and told me what I was experiencing and what I could expect moving forward. It was the height of the pandemic and I needed a tooth extracted! I was nervous on all counts! I need not have been. Dr. Choudhary was highly recommended by a close friend and he and his team lived up to that praise. The staff were very polite, friendly and also careful, given the pandemic situation. I felt at ease. The consultation was quick yet thorough and the actual tooth extraction was a breeze -- quick, painless and Dr. Choudhary and his assistant explained the entire process. I felt safe during my dental procedure and in terms of COVID as well. We live in times where going to a dentist or periodontist can be daunting but the practice was immaculate, PPE was worn and I felt completely comfortable. I was not looking forward to getting an implant (!) but Dr. Choudhary and his staff made me feel very relaxed and in good hands and the experience was as comfortable and pleasant as dental surgery can be! After my initial consultation with Dr. Choudhary on the 27th of January, I had my surgery scheduled for February 3rd. I arrived at 9:45 for my 10:00 surgical appointment. I was taken in shortly thereafter. I had a frenum released and a graft on tooth 24 and 25 for stability. Dr. Choudhary took the tissue from the roof of my mouth, since that is best. My interaction with Dr. Choudhary, his office manager, and his hygienist were all wonderful and how comfortable Dr. Choudhary made me feel before and during the surgery. It was lovely. "I had to visit the office about six times over an eleven month period in order to complete an implant procedure. All of the appointments were very professional and satisfactory. Everybody in the practice treated me with courtesy and consideration. “The practice is easily accessible, parking is not a problem, and the office environment is friendly with the warm greeting from the receptionist. I had bone grafting done in another practice and, unfortunately, had problems which turned out to be permanent. I had been trying to find a reasonable explanation for that but was unsuccessful so far. Dr. Choudhary immediately provided a convincing scientific explanation for that. “On my first visit to the North Bethesda Periodontal Group, I was introduced to Dr. Choudhary as well as his staff and 3D X-rays of my teeth were taken. Dr. Choudhary and appropriate staff explained and discussed all aspects of my upcoming dental implant procedure, which included, but were not limited to, topics such as preparation, medication, recovery and care, fees, and return visits. On the day the procedure was performed, I was greeted by staff, taken to Dr. Choudhary’s operatory, and the procedure was performed. I was then helped to my car by staff and driven home by my wife, Pam. There was nothing more than minor discomfort during recovery. Dr. Choudhary and staff, as a team, functioned flawlessly throughout each step of the process. At no time was I in any way uncomfortable or concerned.
